Preoperative preparation

Compliance with the protocol before the intervention is essential for the success of the operation and supporting the normal healing process .

In general, to whatever aspect of life we refer to, for  everything to go well, a well-established plan is needed. Therefore, as well as in the case of a surgery scheduled on a certain date, it requires  preparation in advance.

We present in detail the steps to follow for the smooth running of the intervention:

  1. Documentation

Regarding the field of phaloplasty, when you have decided that you want to perform one of the specific surgical interventions, it  is important to research the type of operation  required. You will  find useful information both on our website and from other reliable online  sources, forums, blogs, as well as from specialized books that deal with the subject in detail. The experiences of other people are also very useful, who have already gone through a similar intervention .

On the website of our clinic you will identify useful information about all aspects of interventions, detailed in these pages:

  1. The choice of the surgeon

Regardless  of the surgical procedure you choose    (even in the case of non-invasiveones), it is important to look for a plastic surgeon with all the credentials, and the whole process, from the virtual consultation to the intervention itself, to be carried out in a specialized clinic, which operates to the required standards, with all the approvals guaranteed by the forums and  specific associations.

  1. Consultation

The preliminary discussion and the  initial consultation will help you to know the specialist environment, a meeting in which the connection must be  easily  established,  this  being an indicator of the final decision,  respectively the choice of performing the intervention with a certain doctor.

It is important to make sure that the chosen doctor has relevant experience for the requested intervention , to be sure that you are in good hands .

Communication is the  key: ask the doctor for examples of cases similar to your application,  both those that went with succes, but also more problematic cases ,  if any . Before you go to the consultation, you can write down your questions and concerns, to  ask the doctor.

In  our  clinic, we offer our patients all the information they need, by presenting the details they need  during the consultation, so that they are reconciled with this decision.

  1. Programming for intervention

Because everything  went   as you expected, and after the consultation and finding out all the information you  needed, you decided to go further  and do this intervention, there was only one step left:  setting the date of the intervention. Together with the specialist doctor,  you will make the appointment.

In case  you have opted for one of the  doctors of our clinic, we thank  you and assure you that all the staff contribute to provide you with a pleasant experience.

We care about your safety, from all points of view. That is why we maintain the  highest standards of care for patients who arrive in our clinic. Even if at first glance it seems that you have to remember a lot of information on the preoperative procedure , as you go through the details, you will realize that everything is simple,  especially if you have an excellent state of health .

PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION ITSELF:

  1. Filling in the patient’s file: fill in the patient’s record responsibly, you will go through all the points noted and sign only  after you have made sure  that you have understood the questions, and the answers transmitted are offered with sincerity and seriousness.
  2. Current drug treatments : it is important to follow the indications regarding the stopping or modification of certain treatments administered at the moment.
  3. Disinfection of the area: disinfection of the intervention area will begin 3-5 days before the operation. During the shower, you will apply an antiseptic skin solution (for example: Dermobacter, Betadine or any other antibacterial soap), it will be allowed to act for a few minutes, after which you will rinse with water, no longer needing  to use soap or shower gel. If you use    Betadine, we recommend that you rinse with water very well so as not to stain your underwear. The  disinfection procedure started 3-5 days before ensures a decrease in  the number of bacteria that are usually found on the surface of the skin, so the area will be prepared for intervention, with a much lower  risk of infection.
  4. Shaving of the  area: it will  be done 2 (two) days before the date of intervention, neither sooner nor  later, with the help of a classic razor (with a new blade)  or modern that does not involves the use of shaving foam, clipper or removing hair cream. The shaving operation should be carried out carefully , avoiding causing injuries to bleed.
  5. Necessary analysis: the set of analysis necessary for the intervention will be carried out 10 days before the intervention, not  sooner or later. Make sure that you make an appointment for  this set of  analysis, and after obtaining the results, you will send them to the clinic 7 days before the intervention, so that the doctor can confirm that everything is fine, and the intervention will be performed on the set date. The analysis can be sent either online (by mail) or on WhatsApp, with the request to confirm us by phone, by audio call or message that they were sent. In this way, they can be viewed in the  shortest  time by our doctors in order to receive the confirmation that they are good. In this way you will be sure that you can make the journey to us in an informed  manner, that the steps to the operation can advance  further. All these procedures mean effective communication and time gained, so that everything goes according to the established plan .
  6. Presentation at the clinic:on the day of the operation you will need only the identity card, the results of the analysis and a kit with personal hygiene objects. We provide you with all the equipment and items you will need while  you are in the clinic: slippers, gown, underwear,  etc.
  7. What should be removed on the day of the operation: contact lenses, prostheses of any type (which detach), jewelry (rings, earrings, chains, pierces).
  8. Recommended clothing: for the day of the intervention, we recommend you to wear a light outfit and comfortable shoes, which are practical also on the day of discharge (at the level of the intimate region, abdomen, chest, feet).
  9. Payment of the intervention: make sure you know the exact cost of the intervention for which you present yourself at the clinic; the payment will be made on that day, in lei or euro, at the exchange rate of that day.
  10. Postoperative recovery       period: remember to take time off from activities after the intervention, so that the recovery is easy and successful.
  11. Maintaining the optimal state of health until the intervention: we inform you that the appointments for the intervention scan be established at a greater distance from the consultation, and the appearance of diseases of any kind before the intervention may jeopardize the proper course of the procedure or the result. If your intervention is scheduled in this way, it is extremely important to maintain the optimal general condition,  communicating to the clinic any changes, the appearance of a disease.
  12. Postponing or cancelling the intervention: whatever the reasons – personal reasons or certain medical conditions – when  you want to postpone or  cancel the intervention, we appreciate and ask you  to let us know as soon as possible, in order to benefit from priority in the future.
  13. Anesthesia: after anesthesia with sedation it is not allowed to drive vehicles for at least 24 hours. For interventions with superficial/deep anesthesia , which allow discharge on the same day, the presence of a companion is mandatory. If you do not have a companion, it is essential to communicate this to us ,  to designate someone from the clinic team to  help you .
  14. Submitting to the   clinic: it is essential to arrive at the clinic on the day of the intervention, either at the indicated time, or a little  earlier, in order to deal with the protocol for signing the admission  documents,  installation in the ward and preparation for intervention.
